About Cath

With more than two decades in the kitchen industry, Cath Harrison leads Product & Sourcing at Magnet, overseeing product development, design, sourcing and quality across the business.

Since joining Magnet's graduate scheme in 1998, Cath has helped shape our product offering through multiple generations of kitchen design. Alongside her time at Magnet, she also ran her own interiors business, giving her valuable experience across ecommerce, marketing and product development.

Today, Cath works across the entire product lifecycle – identifying emerging customer needs, developing new kitchen ranges and ensuring every product balances beautiful design, lasting quality and commercial value. Cath believes the best products begin with understanding how people live and she works closely with teams across the business to turn those insights into kitchens customers genuinely love.

Advice for planning a new kitchen

Design around your lifestyle

Every home is different, so your kitchen should reflect the way you live. A family with young children will have different priorities to someone who loves entertaining or cooking. Thinking about your routines first will help you create a kitchen that's enjoyable to use every day.

Balance trends with longevity

Kitchen trends can provide plenty of inspiration, but the best designs combine timeless style with practical thinking. Choose colours, finishes and products that you'll continue to enjoy for years to come, rather than following short-lived fashions.

If you're comparing finishes, our guides to Natural Materials, Wood Effect Kitchens and Mixing Kitchen Materials explain how different materials perform and how they can be combined throughout your kitchen.

Never overlook the practical details

The smallest decisions often have the greatest impact. Storage, ergonomics, workflow, material choice and product quality all influence how well your kitchen works every day. Taking the time to get these details right will pay off long after installation.

Our guides to Kitchen Storage and Kitchen Cabinets explore the practical features that can make everyday life easier.
