Magnet's Diversity Pledge

Here at Magnet, we’re passionate about celebrating creativity in all forms. No matter what age, social or national origin, skin colour, gender, sexuality, religion, political opinions or disability, we know that great design transcends this and it’s what’s at the heart of our business.

We’ve been kitchen experts for over 100 years and are proud to have a talented and diverse team already behind our brand. We’re also committed to providing equal opportunities, ensuring diversity is at the forefront of our approach at Magnet.

To further commit to this, we are taking the Design for Diversity pledge and continue to play our part in bringing diversity to the interiors industry.

Visibility

We pledge that our channels – our websites, blogs and social media – will at all times endeavour to include people of every colour, gender and sexuality.

Opportunity

We pledge to seek out Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates to interview for roles that arise in our businesses. We will always hire the best person for the job, but we will endeavour to bring more diverse candidates through the process. We stop short of positive discrimination and we reject tokenism.

Accessibility

We pledge that any events we hold – be they panel discussions or talks, dinners, receptions, or media events – will endeavour to include people of all colours and genders.

Design for Diversity

This Pledge is a recent initiative and brain child of prevalent interiors bloggers, Rukmini Patel and Kate Watson Smyth launched on 18th June 2020.

Created to help the interior design industry become more diverse, the Pledge covers three key elements - Visibility, Opportunity and Accessibility - and aims to provide brands, businesses and bloggers the guidelines on the areas they can work on.
