Architect Jamie approached Magnet with a clear idea of the modern, light-filled kitchen he wanted to create - one that contrasted beautifully with his Victorian home. Beverley Designer George helped bring that vision closer to reality, guiding him through the perfect combination of ranges, finishes and features to craft a space made for embracing time with family and showcasing his proud work.
As a skilled architect and experienced renovator, Jamie came into the project with a strong sense of direction. He knew his existing Victorian kitchen was too narrow and closed-off, and that extending into the garden would unlock the bright, social space his family needed. What he sought from Magnet was a designer who could refine his ideas, connect him to the right products, and bring professional cohesion to the final scheme.
"The first time it clicked was seeing the Nordic Craft in situ… It was love at first sight.” - Jamie, customer
George from the Beverley showroom recognised Jamie’s vision and the creative energy behind it. Rather than starting from scratch, he focused on elevating Jamie’s concept - curating finishes, materials and layout decisions that would achieve the contrast Jamie imagined between period architecture and contemporary design.
George introduced Jamie to the combination that became the foundation of the design: the natural warmth of the Nordic Craft island paired with the sleek, handleless Integra Hoxton cabinetry in sumi black. With his knowledge, George helped Jamie see how the solid oak craftsmanship of Nordic Craft would ground the space with texture and authenticity, while the anti-fingerprint Hoxton finish would deliver the architectural edge he pictured for the extension.
"When Jamie came into store and saw the island, I think that very much set the wheels in motion. And then we worked out a way to best incorporate it into the space." - George, Kitchen Designer
George also shaped the room’s practical flow - ensuring the new island worked for both family cooking and client meetings, advising on storage that complemented the home’s modern extension, and advising high-performance appliances including two Neff Slide & Hide ovens, a Bosch Flex Induction hob and a sleek 3-in-1 Quooker tap. Each recommendation aligned with Jamie’s lifestyle, aesthetic goals and the demands of a busy family home.
The result is a kitchen where Jamie’s architectural vision is fully realised through George’s design expertise and Magnet’s crafted ranges. Light-filled, social and beautifully balanced between heritage and modernity, it’s now the centrepiece of family life and a space Jamie is proud to share - proof of how the right designer can bring a customer’s kitchen vision closer.
