As featured in Magnet’s latest brand campaign, Closer, this serene York kitchen brings Anna’s long-held vision of quiet, timeless luxury into reality. Working with Katy from the York showroom, Anna transformed an overwhelming blank canvas into a warm, elegant and deeply personal family hub.
For Anna, this remarkable space in York carried decades of family sentiment. Her husband Alex had watched the house being built as a child, and its view of the church where they married made living here feel destined. But the room awaiting transformation - an extraordinary 1,200-square-foot former swimming pool - was undeniably daunting.

Katy, Anna’s dedicated Magnet designer from the York showroom, quickly understood the emotional importance of the project. After exploring Anna’s story, her hopes for the space and even diving into her Pinterest boards, Katy began shaping a direction that balanced elegance, practicality and calm.

The breakthrough came with the layout. With no existing kitchen footprint to guide them, Katy proposed a beautifully curved peninsula to house the sink, paired with a long run of fully integrated Ludlow cabinetry - creating a social, open and intuitive space connected to the wider room.
From there, Katy designed the kitchen to wrap intentionally around the home’s new centre showpiece: a hidden walk-in pantry created by knocking through into the adjacent utility. Planned to the millimetre, the cabinetry lines up seamlessly with the structural opening, forming a magical, ‘Narnia-like’ moment at the heart of the space.
Final flourishes brought the vision even closer. When Magnet released the new Parchment colourway, Katy drove a sample to Anna’s home personally - leading to an instant decision. Combined with Ludlow’s hand-painted detailing, curved island edges and warm brass accents, the finished space delivers the quiet luxury Anna had imagined for years.
Today, the kitchen is more than a room - it’s the timeless family hub Anna and Alex always dreamed of.
