What advice would you give to a new kitchen buyer?
One tip I’d give is to take your time. This allows you to get more of a feel for your kitchen, and eventually find a design that's the best fit for the space you're working with.
Pinterest can be a great source of inspiration. Collating images will help you identify and visualise the styles and features you're drawn to, which you can then communicate to your designer.
I found it very useful to look back at my initial mood boards during the planning stage of my kitchen journey.

What was your main focus when designing your kitchen?
We both enjoy being in the kitchen, so we wanted a space that was smart and practical yet suitable for entertaining.
We wanted to recreate something natural, lived-in and soulful – a reflection of how we wanted to live in the space.
In recent years, there’s also been a shift towards focusing on how design makes us feel, as we’ve become increasingly aware of how interiors can influence our physical and mental wellbeing.
How did you decide on the colours and styles used in your design?
When it came to choosing the design, we really wanted something that was well suited to the both of us, and were on the look-out for something clean, contemporary and fresh.
When Magnet introduced their Nordic Nature concept, we instantly fell in love with it – it was everything we were going for. Nordic Nature is inspired by the natural beauty of the Nordic woods, with the oak-effect design available in both smooth and fluted textures.
The nature aspect of Nordic Nature’s design allows you to feel calm, connect with nature and, ultimately, feel happier in your home.
The story
Liv and her partner wanted to create an open plan space to allow more light into their kitchen, while also opening up the space.
Liv’s kitchen journey began by booking a virtual design appointment with Josh, one of the Archway shop branch’s dedicated designers.
They discussed ideas via video call, and Chris came back that evening with a few draft designs. He suggested what units would work and how best to optimise the space to suit the couple’s everyday needs.
Despite space limitations being a concern for Liv, Chris’s design expertise helped the couple utilise their existing space, with clever storage solutions and integrated appliances – including a wine cooler, integrated coffee machine and dishwasher.
Liv later received 3D design models of the kitchen, which Josh was able to create based on the mood boards and designs Liv had sent to him during their initial Consultation.
A week later, the couple went into the store to confirm their designs and delivery, and were offered an installation date for the following month.
