Finding the right kitchen for your budget
A message from our family to yours
Family is everything. Magnet have spent the last 100 years together, taking great pride in creating a brand that helps make the most of the time we spend at home around the kitchen with family and friends – it’s where meals and memories are made.
We are part of Nobia, one of Europe’s largest kitchen manufacturers, with revenues in excess of £1billion and factories & stores across the continent. Please be assured we are a stable business with many years of experience and our financial position is strong. We are managing the changing environment to continually serve you now, in the coming months and way into the future.
We’re still here to make it all happen
We know that turning the kitchen living space you’ve been dreaming of for so long into reality is one of the most exciting times. And we’re still here to make that happen for you.
While our stores and factories may be closed and deliveries halted temporarily, our dedicated designers have been set up to work safely from home and can still bring your dream kitchen to life – from wherever you are – call it our virtual showroom.

Finding the right kitchen for your budget
Are you a savvy saver who’s just stepped onto the housing ladder or finally at the point where you can splash out on the kitchen of your dreams?
There’s a kitchen to suit every stage of life, and all you need to do to find a style that matches both your budget and personal taste is to answer a few simple questions.
Update or upgrade?
If money is tight, the first thing to ask yourself is whether you really need to start from scratch, or whether a few clever updates might be enough to give your kitchen a new lease of life.
Try painting a feature wall in a bold colour and adding accessories and crockery in complementary hues to change the feel of your kitchen, or replacing smaller fittings like cabinet handles, splashbacks and lighting to create a new look.
If you do decide to go the whole way and install a completely new kitchen, there are still ways to save money by working with the existing layout, as this will avoid the potentially costly task of rerouting plumbing and wiring.
Don’t forget to check whether you can recoup any costs by selling on your old kitchen too. There are lots of customers on online marketplaces who would be more than happy to hand over cash for a second-hand kitchen, and making sure it doesn’t go to waste is also great for the environment.
Practical or premium?
The number one piece of advice if you’re keeping to a strict spending limit on your new kitchen is to stay flexible. The solid marble worktop you’ve spotted in magazines and the designer brand fridge with a built in ice-maker might not be achievable within every budget, but there are lots of affordable alternatives to allow you to create a stylish look without the matching price tag. Choose Laminate worktops to achieve the effect of natural wood, sleek granite or luxurious marble for less, and stick to unbranded appliances to stop costs from adding up.
On the other hand, if your budget is a little more comfortable and you can’t wait to get the type of kitchen you’ve always longed for, you’re in the lucky position of having a lot more choice. From solid oak cabinets with gleaming copper handles to inbuilt coffee makers and smooth-closing cupboard doors, your very own Pinterest-worthy kitchen is right around the corner!
DIY or professional?
Finally, if you’re feeling up to the challenge and have a little DIY expertise, installing your new kitchen yourself will help reduce the overall cost of the project. When you opt for one of the ready to assemble styles in Magnet’s Simply range, you can use our online design and price tool to draw up the design for your kitchen in a matter of minutes, and will even receive an on-the-spot price estimate. Next share this with one of our showrooms and our kitchen experts will take care of the technical details while you take a look at your chosen finishes and fittings.
Prefer to leave the installation up to the professionals? Then you’re in luck, as Magnet is a member of the Government’s endorsed Trustmark scheme, meaning all our approved kitchen installers are monitored to make sure they’re trustworthy and reliable. Not to mention that all our rigid cabinet designs come with a 20 year guarantee and our new iD3 cabinets, exclusive to the Uniquely kitchens range, are covered by our unique lifetime guarantee.
